Come Away With Me
Norah Jones
(EMI)
Sunrise

Norah Jones' sexy voice goes well with her jazzy tunes. Her album includes classic jazz melodies from Hank Williams, J.D. Loudermilk and Hoagy Charmichael, and also originals from her bandmates, Jesse Harris and Lee Alexander.

Newcomer Norah Jones is basically about jazz. She majored in Jazz piano at the University Of North Texas for two years before moving on into the music scene and, obviously, plays all of her own piano accompaniments in her album.

The album includes Hank Williams' Cold Cold Heart, J.D. Loudermilk's Turn Me On and Hoagy Carmichael's The Nearness Of You.

She sounds like Macy Gray on some of her songs. Most of her songs gather around the piano and acoustic guitar which makes them slow, mellow & relaxing, perfect for a Sunday afternoon wind-down session.

My personal favourites were Feelin' The Same Way, Painter Song & Nightingale.

All in all, Norah Jones is someone to watch for in the jazz-pop scene. Young & talented, she'll make you "come away" with her.
